Hot Working Tool Steel with Bainitic Microstructure—The Mechanical Properties at Elevated Temperature

نویسندگان

چکیده

Usually, tool steels are used in quenched and tempered conditions. Due to the phase transition from austenite martensite volume change during transformation, controlling distortion might be challenging. A newly developed steel focusing on a bainitic structure, even for bigger dimensions, shows lower hardness at ambient temperature than conventional hot working but with dependency. Therefore, service temperature, mechanical properties comparable established grades. Heat treatment is simplified by simple austenitization cooling process without special requirements rate. generally rate compared quench tempering process, risk of cracking reduced while machinability improved. With combination good weldability rather low after rapid cooling, this grade can also processed additive manufacturing well suited hybrid manufacturing.

Effect of Austenitising Temperature on Mechanical Properties of Nanostructured Bainitic Steel

Nanostructured bainite was obtained in high-carbon Si-Al-rich steel by low-temperature (220-260 °C) isothermal transformation after austenitisation at different temperatures (900 °C, 1000 °C, and 1150 °C). Improved strength-ductility-toughness balance was achieved in the nanostructured bainitic steel austenitised at low temperatures (900 °C and 1000 °C). Increasing the austenitising temperature...

EVALUATION OF THE MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF NIOBIUM MODIFIED CAST AISI H 13 HOT WORK TOOL STEEL

Abstract: mechanical properties of AISIH 13 hot-work tool steel have been studied. Cast samples made of the modified new steel were homogenized and austenitized at different conditions, followed by tempering at the specified temperature ranges. Hardness, red hardness, three point bending test and Charpy impact test were carried out to evaluate the mechanical properties together with characteriz...

Hot Tensile and Fracture Behavior of 35CrMo Steel at Elevated Temperature and Strain Rate

To better understand the tensile deformation and fracture behavior of 35CrMo steel during hot processing, uniaxial tensile tests at elevated temperatures and strain rates were performed. Effects of deformation condition on the flow behavior, strain rate sensitivity, microstructure transformation, and fracture characteristic were characterized and discussed. The results indicated that the flow s...

Comparison of Tribological Behavior of Deep Cryogenic Treated Hot Work Tool Steel at Room and High Temperature

The deep cryogenic treatment is a complementary operation that is done on a variety of tool steels aimed at improving their abrasion resistance and hardness. In the case of the H13 hot-work steel, which is widely used at high temperatures as a hot-deformation tool, we need to determine the efficiency of subzero treatment on it at the working temperature. In this regard, this paper is focu...
